Invitation to the Saitama Traditional Performing Arts Festival: Saitama’s Kagura and Kuruma Ningyō

Saitama Traditional Performing Arts Festival is held every year with the aim of preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Japanese art practices, offering guests the rare chance to observe a range of traditional performing arts from Saitama Prefecture.

Opening with a Matsuri Bayashi (orchestra) performance by young artists, this year’s festival is a priceless opportunity to experience Japan’s traditional performing arts, including the art of Kagura, which has been passed down in the Yoshida region of Chichibu, and puppet shows which have become increasingly rare even in Japan.

Prior application for tickets is required; however, this event is absolutely free! Materials written in English and English subtitles will also be prepared for the performance, so make sure to join in and help celebrate the rich culture of Saitama!
