Between December 23 and January 4, Saitama University confirmed nine cases of COVID-19. Please confirm the below, but kindly understand that we will not disclose any personal information.
[10th case of COVID 19 (December 26)]10s, student
1. Symptoms
December 20 : Participated in the extracurricular activity on campus
December 21~: Not entered the campus
December 25 : Identified as a “close contact” (related to the ninth case), had a PCR test, tested positive
Have no symptoms, staying at home following the instruction of the health center
2. Due to the Saitama City Public Health Center, no one is identified to have come into close contact.
[11th case of COVID 19 (December 26)]20s, student
1. Symptoms
December 20 : Participated in the extracurricular activity on campus
December 21 : Participated in the extracurricular activity on campus and off campus
December 22 : Participated in the extracurricular activity off campus
December 23~: Not entered the campus
December 25 : Identified as a “close contact” (related to the ninth case), had a PCR test
December 26 : Tested positive
Have no symptoms, staying at home following the instruction of the health center
2. In line with Saitama City Public Health Center, we are doing contact tracing.

1. Symptoms
December 28 : Had a fever and a sore throat, visited a clinic, had a PCR test
December 29 : Tested positive

1. Symptoms
December 24-26 : Stayed at home of a friend outside SU
December 27 : Had a fever and a headache, visited a clinic, had a PCR test
December 28 : Tested positive

1. Symptoms
December 26 : Had a headache at night
December 27 : Had a fever, a cough and phlegm, visited a clinic, had a PCR test
December 29 : Tested positive

1. Symptoms
December 24 : Had a fever
December 26 : Visited a clinic, had a PCR test
December 28 : Tested positive

1. Symptoms
December 27 : Had a fever, loss of taste and smell symptom
December 30 : Visited a clinic, had a PCR test, tested positive

1. Symptoms
December 27 : Identified as a “close contact, stayed at home
December 31 : Had a headache, had a PCR test
January 1 : Tested positive

[18th case of COVID 19 (January 4, 2021)]10s, student
1. Symptoms
~ December 30 : Stayed at home for a while
December 30 : Had a fever, a runny nose, a stuffy nose, loss of taste and dyspnea symptom
December 31 : Had a PCR test, tested positive
Staying at home following the instruction of the health center
2. Due to the Saitama City Public Health Center, no one is identified to have come into close contact.
We have confirmed eighteen positive cases of COVID-19 including this case. We continue to devote our efforts to prevent the spread of the virus and will continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our students and the community.

1. Avoid going out into public places if you have a fever or symptoms of COVID-19.
2. Avoid visiting nightlife district and places that do not promote proper prevention measures.
3. Download and use COVID-19 warning applications released by the Japanese government and Saitama Prefecture.
4. Avoid the 3Cs (Closed spaces, Crowded place and Close-contact settings)
5. Avoid large social gatherings.
6. Refrain from making loud noises at restaurants.
