Courses

SU offers various courses conducted in English. STEPS students may take any of these courses, regardless of their fields of study.

Regular courses, offered for SU degree-seeking students, are conducted in Japanese and in English, ranging from beginner to advanced level. STEPS students will be allowed to take courses from the regular courses in their fields of study in Japanese depending on their Japanese proficiency with the permission of the instructor.

SU also offers Intensive Japanese Language Course for all levels. Students will pursue regular courses and/or Intensive Japanese courses depending on their Japanese and English language proficiency.

Intensive Japanese Course

For students who wish to concentrate on Japanese language studies, SU Japanese Education Center provides comprehensive courses on the Japanese language. This course is designed for those who wish to study the Japanese language comprehensively on a continuous basis in a series of six classes: Japanese A to Japanese S, from beginner to the advanced level.

Regular Courses

Exchange students who wish to take any of the regular courses conducted in Japanese must have the proficiency of Japanese equivalent to a native level. Students who meet the course requirements are required to have instructor’s permission prior to the registration. However, lecture numbers starting from XZ, which are the courses offered by Education and Student Services Bureau including Sports Practical Skill, and courses of Faculty of Education are not offered to STEPS students.

Course Registration

Students must register for the courses during the registration period of each semester. Instructions on how to register will be informed at the Registration Orientation after arrival.
