SU offers various courses offeredin English and many of which are open to exchange students. STEPS students may take any of these courses, regardless of their fields of study.
We also offers Intensive Japanese Language Course for all levels. Students will pursue regular courses and/or Intensive Japanese courses depending on their Japanese and English language proficiency.
All other courses intended for students pursuing a degree at SU are generally conducted in Japanese. STEPS students may be able to take these courses with the permission of their instructors, provided the instructors determine that the students have sufficient language proficiency and foundational knowledge to participate.

The Courses listed below are offered in English (some are offered in “Japanese and English” or “only in Japanese”) and are open to STEPS students.

Intensive Japanese Course
For students who wish to concentrate on Japanese language studies, SU Japanese Education Center provides comprehensive courses on the Japanese language. This course is designed for those who wish to study the Japanese language comprehensively on a continuous basis in a series of six classes: Japanese A to Japanese S, from beginner to the advanced level.

Courses other than those listed above
Exchange students may also be able to take courses conducted in Japanese (and sometimes other languages) that are intended for degree-seeking students. However, native-level Japanese proficiency will be required and you must obtain permission from the instructor in charge of the course to attend the course (the procedure will be explained during the orientation after your arrival in Japan).
Course Registration
Students must register for the courses during the registration period of each semester. Instructions on how to register will be informed at the Registration Orientation after arrival.
