Non-degree seeking research students are students who conduct research on a designated research theme, under the guidance of a specific instructor, for the purpose of research on specialized subject matter. Non-degree seeking research students cannot acquire credits, or obtain a degree.
Saitama University does not offer a course designed for Japanese language study alone. Thus, before arriving in Japan, students need to acquire sufficient Japanese language skills required for taking classes, and receiving research guidance at the University.
It is important to have clear objectives for studying abroad before arriving in Japan. In addition, in terms of financial planning, such as tuition and living expenses, etc. necessary for your study in Japan, please thoroughly plan before your arrival in Japan, in order to avoid situations where your part-time job, etc. interferes with your studies.
The research period for non-degree seeking research students is six months. However, if a request for a continuance (extension) is submitted within the designated period, students may be granted an additional six-month extension.
