My name is Kevin Chung. I was glad to join the 2022 summer program at Saitama University. Overall, the summer program was terrific. Great job to the staff of the International Office! I also see the online study mode as a great place to connect with other international students interested in Japanese studies. Furthermore, I crave learning new things regarding my personal and career aspirations. In particular, the new imperatives for a new practice of real Japanese life during the pandemic. Many good discussions were going on in the courses I took. I learned the current Japanese trends from our cohorts and faculty members and gained a rock-solid understanding of future developments in Japan through participating in this summer program. My goal was not to see how well I could regurgitate facts but to continue to stimulate my intellectual curiosity. More importantly, it helps me articulate those views and arguments to others.

I have never been to Saitama University, although I have been to many parts of Japan for holidays. But I look forward to visiting Saitama University sometime in the future. Finally, I am humbled and honored to be learning with and from all of my classmates, Japanese students, and professors of Saitama University during this memorable summer!
