I had always wanted to live in Japan for a few years, so during my graduate studies in neuroscience, I decided to apply for the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT) scholarship for my PhD. I got accepted and after I finished my master’s degree, I enrolled in Saitama University.

Saitama University has a partnership with the Riken Brain Science Institute, a flagship research institute of Japan, and one of the best places to do neuroscience research in the world. This partnership allows me to work at Riken BSI and get my PhD in neuroscience from Saitama University as a result. The people at Saitama University have always been nice and helpful, and BSI is a great place to do research. This is the perfect combination!
