Nizhny Novgorod, Russia: President Yamaguchi was officially invited and participated in the 100th Anniversary of Lobachevsky University held on January 26th, 2016 and signed on the Academic Collaboration Agreement and Student Exchange MoU with the Rector Chuprunov.

Lobachevsky University, named after the renowned mathematician Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky who developed hyperbolic geometry, is one of the 21 (of which 6 were recently added) selected top universities for the “5 to 100 Project,” a nationwide higher education policy for the enhancement of research and internationalization of Russian universities initiated by President Vladimir Putin.

Whereas aiming at the world-class researches in most important fields based on the Russian Government mega-grants program, e.g., extreme light fields, neurodynamics and neurobiology for brain science, Lobachevsky University has its own mission as a regional knowledge integrator in active cooperation with state and local authorities. Given the common mission with Saitama University that strives for the first-class research and education for the advancement of both the municipality and the international community, we foresee fruitful cooperation and synergy effects based on this partnership.
