In accordance with the “Declaration of Emergency for the COVID-19″ issued by the Japanese government, and with the “Emergency Measures in Saitama Prefecture” issued by the Governor of Saitama Prefecture, Saitama University will continue to place top priority on ensuring the safety and health of students and their families, and will implement the following classes in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The current state of emergency declaration period is until September 30, 2021, but if it is extended again, this handling will continue. In the event that the declaration of a state of emergency is lifted, all students are requested to attend classes in accordance with Classes in Term 3 and Term 4 of FY2021
○Under the state of emergency, in principle, all classes will be provided remotely (online or on-demand classes). Even if classes are scheduled to be conducted in HyFlex mode (Hybrid Flexible: combine face-to-face and online classes), they will be changed to online or on-demand classes during the period of declaration of a state of emergency.
○In the case of experiments, practical training, practical training courses, or classes with a small number of students, if the professor in charge determines that it is necessary to continue the classes in person, and if sufficient measures are taken against infection, it is possible to conduct the classes in person as in the 1st and 2nd terms.
○If a class is held between September 27 and September 30, during the period of declaration of a state of emergency, the professor in charge will use WebClass, etc., to notify the students of the implementation, so please make sure to check it. In addition, when the class implementation is changed, such as when the period for declaring a state of emergency is extended again, the student will be notified without omission.
○Depending on the situation of the COVID-19 infection in the future, there is a possibility that classes with a small number of students will be completely switched to online or on-demand classes.
○When you feel difficulty or anxiety about attending face-to-face classes
Even when a state of emergency is declared or lifted, students who have difficulties or concerns about attending face-to-face classes because they themselves have an underlying disease or live with an elderly person or a person with a chronic disease need to submit a medical certificate or submit a written motion. If the university determine that there is a justifiable reason, appropriate measures will be taken for each person.
