Emergency Assistance Scholarship Program for FY 2021 to support student life as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic

As in the previous fiscal year, Saitama University will continue to utilize the Saitama University Foundation “Saitama University Scholastic Support Fund” to provide “Saitama University Emergency Scholarship” to students who need living support due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

1. Overview of assistance
In response to the spread of COVID-19, scholarships will be provided to students who are unable to find a part-time job or whose income has decreased due to a decrease in the income of their parents or guardians due to the spread of COVID-19, or who are unable to find a part-time job, resulting in difficulties in finding the necessary tuition and living expenses (apartment rent, food and necessities) for their student lives.

2. Student to be supported
Students who are in need of assistance due to financial difficulties such as tuition and living expenses due to the spread of COVID-19.

3. Students who are not eligible for support
Students who are receiving support equivalent to JSPS postdoctoral fellows, MEXT Scholarship, Malaysian government students, etc. are not eligible.

4. Scholarship money for support
home student 30,000 yen
out-of-home student 50,000 yen

5. Number of students supported
Approximately 1,500 (However, it shall be within the scope of the budget.) 

6. Application procedure
Students wishing to receive an Emergency Assistance Scholarship should fill out and submit an application form describing their distress situation (household balance from April to May).

In addition, you are requested to keep and submit a document (Passbook, part-time job salary statement, apartment rent contract, etc.) showing that your household budget has decreased.
