On October 22, 2025, H.E. Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Japan, and Mr. Chaudhary Talha Bin Khalid, Counsellor, paid a courtesy call to Prof. Dr. Takafumi Sakai, President of Saitama University (SU).
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Hideo Ichihashi, Vice President for International and Global Education, Prof. Dr. Ken Kawamoto, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Associate Prof. Takako Ochi, International Office, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Usama Zafar, Graduate School of Science and Engineering from SU. During the meeting, valuable discussions were held regarding future academic and cultural exchanges between Japan and Pakistan.

Presentation of a Commemorative Gift
Following the meeting, Prof. Kawamoto facilitated a special lecture to SU students. The lecture covered a wide range of topics, including Pakistan’s current situation and challenges, Japan-Pakistan relations and development cooperation, and the importance of human resource development. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of global issues and broaden their international perspectives.
SU is currently promoting student and research exchanges based on an inter-university agreement with Lahore University of Technology in Pakistan. The Ambassador’s visit is expected to further enhance collaboration in various fields and strengthen ties between the two institutions.
