On January 14, 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of the Kingdom of Cambodia visited Saitama University (SU) and paid a courtesy call on Prof. Dr. SAKAI Takafumi, President of SU. The delegation included H.E. Dr. YETH Vinel, Under Secretary of State of the MEF and Deputy Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Public Financial Management Reform (GSC), H.E. Mr. UM Youthy, Director of Adminastration, Finance, and Monitoring & Evaluation Division of the GSC, Dr. NGOV Penghuy, Advisor of the GSC and Associate Professor at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Mr. SRON Ratha, Specialist of the GSC, and Ms. KHON Leakhena, Director of the Department of Economy and Finance of Kandal Province.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. NONAKA Susumu, Executive Director for Education and Student Affairs, SU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. SAMRETH Sovannroeun, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, SU, the participants exchanged views on the potential for future cooperation between Japan and Cambodia. In particular, concrete proposals were presented regarding the utilization of online platforms for student exchange programs, leading to a lively and productive discussion.
