  On September 12, 2023, Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) together with Prof. Dr. A. F. M. Saiful Amin, Department of Civil Engineering, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Dr. Takafumi Sakai, President of Saitama University (SU).

 Since BUET and SU concluded the Inter-University Exchange Agreement in 2011. BUET and SU, mainly the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, have been actively interacting with each other. The two universities have a close relationship, especially in research exchange, through joint research on bridges and other social infrastructure with Prof. Amin, who completed his doctoral studies at SU.

 During the courtesy call on President Sakai, Prof. Dr. Hideo Ichihashi, Vice President for International Affairs and Global Education, SU, Prof. Dr. Yasunao Matsumoto, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, SU, Prof. Tetsuo Konaka, Research Promotion Office, SU, and Associate Prof. Dr. Yasuhiro Hasegawa, Director of International Planning Office, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, SU, joined the meeting and had a meaningful discussion about the possibility of further exchange between the two universities in the future, including the expansion of exchange fields and the scope of exchange eligibles and the use of online services.
