On August 5,2022,  a total of 28 people, including Dr. Somchai Santiwatanakul, President of Srinakarinwirot University (SWU), Bangkok, Thailand, paid a courtesy visit to Saitama University. This visit was initiated by Mr. Thongchart Bowonthumrongchai who completed his master’s and doctoral studies at Saitama University (SU)’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering. He is currently serving as the Acting Dean for Academic Affairs in the Faculty of Economics at SWU and approached Prof. Masaharu Nagashima who was his advisor during his time at SU about the possibility of international exchange between SU and SWU.

The meeting was attended by President Takafumi Sakai, Prof. Motoi Ihara (Dean of Faculty of Economics), Prof. Masaharu Nagashima (Faculty of Economics), Assoc. Prof. Yasuhiro Hasegawa (Director of International Planning Office, Graduate School of Science and Engineering), Prof. Yoshiaki Okui (Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Katsuya Takahashi (Faculty of Liberal Arts) from SU, and President Somchai Santiwatanakul, Vice President Pansiri Phansuwan, Vice President Prit Supasetsiri, Vice President Cholvit Jearajit, Assoc. Prof. Poom Moolsilpa, S.J.D.(Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences), Asst. Prof. Adul Supanat (Dean of Faculty of Economics), Asst. Prof. Tannikarn Soonsinpai (Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs and International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences) on behalf of the visiting delegation. In particular, they agreed to take concrete steps toward the conclusion of an academic exchange agreement, including student exchange.
