Extension of the Restriction on Entering SU Campus

Saitama University has restricted students from entering the campus from Thursday, April 9, 2020 to Wednesday, May 6, 2020 in accordance with the request to close the campus issued by the Governor of Saitama Prefecture on April 13, 2020.
On April 28, 2020, the Governor of Saitama Prefecture issued another request to extend the closing period to Sunday, May 31, 2020.

On May 25, 2020, the Japanese Government and the Governor of Saitama Prefecture declared an end to the state of Emergency. But we decide to maintain the Risk Level 3 specified by Saitama University (with reference to “COVID-19 Infection Countermeasure Manual for international studetns“)and we extend the following measures until Sunday, May 31, 2020 Sunday, June 7, 2020 to protect health of our students. We will inform you when there is any further announcement from the Government or the Prefecture.

Important Notes
1. Lectures will continue to be conducted online until the end of the second term, regardless of whatever further declaration may be. 

2. Experiments, practical training, and practical training classes will not be held for the first term, regardless of whatever further declaration may be.
These activities are scheduled to be conducted during the second term (Thursday, June 18 to Saturday, August 8) .
However, physical education classes, such as sports practice classes, may be conducted online during the first term.  Please check the university website as frequent as possible.

3. Textbooks will not be sold at the university CO-OP stores, but instead can be purchased online. For more information, please visit the website below.

 4. To minimize the risk of infection and the spread of COVID-19, we ask our students to continue staying at home during Golden Week, not travelling using public transportations to other areas of Japan. Also, it is very important to avoid Three Cs (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings) and practice 10 points to reduce contact with people.

Please be remind again that these actions will save lives of yourself, your family and friends. It will also bring the situation under control and save the society.

Re-extension of Remote Work

Based on the request to close the campus issued by the Governor of Saitama Prefecture on April 13, 2020, Saitama University has taken the measures from Thursday, April 9, 2020 and Wednesday, May 6, 2020.
Another request was issued by the Governor of Saitama Prefecture on April 28, 2020,which is to request to extend the closure of the campus unil Sunday, May 31, 2020.
In response to this, Saitama University will extend measures, and ask our faculty members and staff to continue to research/work remotely until Sunday, May 31, 2020.

We will inform you when there is any further announcement from the Government or the Prefecture.

Important Note: The university asks all faculty members and staff to refrain from non-essential travel. Also try to practice 10 points to reduce close contact with people.
